About
Coming to AI art as an established fashion and lifestyle photographer (with publications in Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and Elle magazines under his belt), Matúš Tóth proves that there is a lot more to making AI art than prompt engineering.
Having produced several AI image collections that are tied together through concept, narrative, or style, Tóth’s AI series’ resemble multi-page spreads one would expect to see in lifestyle magazines, albeit without the models, worldly constraints, and advertising agendas. As shown in the works, “Diary”, “Dolcevita” and “Nameless”.
Particularly adept at creating a mood, Tóth embraces the challenges of traversing the aesthetics of different times and settings while maintaining coherence in style or concept. The series “Strangers” has the bleak and eerie atmospherics of “Nordic Noirs” with meta backdrops that present as both theatre sets and cinematic landscapes (a by-product of Midjourney’s Blend mode). “Oldies” has the authenticity of a grandma’s photo album, with a jarring take on the surreal. Reminiscent of observational documentaries, the series “Dolcevita” captures the warmth of people’s connections to their pets.
Despite producing images that are wildly diverse, Tóth is consistent in having a sensibility that is playful, poetic, and visually captivating.
